Stars of Hope
Kenya
In September 2007 Stars of Hope moved to Ruai which is a rural, residential area on the outskirts of Nairobi.
In April 2007 Ruth and Gem went to Ruai to visit the area after discussing that in the future it would be ideal to move away from the slum and create a centre of self-sustainability for local people while providing a safe and caring home for the vulnerable children that attend the centre in Dandora. stopdumpingdeath.htm
The idea was to take the most vulnerable children to Ruai to live and now that idea is reality. By September 2007 we had moved to Ruai.
The centre has grown to home 30 children and educate and provide day-care for a further 40 children daily. The centre also employs 10 people.
You can see the progression by watching the videos that have been filmed and edited by volunteers. The improvement is obvious each time and has happened more quickly than we could ever have imagined!
This short film shows us there with the first four children, just 2 weeks after moving to Ruai in 2007. The other films are currently being added to the website so watch this space!
