SARI HATI (essence of the heart)
STARS OF BALI...

Sari Hati has been run by willing volunteers, with minimal funds and resources for some years now, in the town of Ubud, Bali. These people have pulled together to form a support group and educational centre for, so far, 9 disabled individuals who live in surrounding areas. The place that they use to hold 2 sessions a week is cramped and not suitable for when it rains, but these guys have managed to keep the sessions going each week, offering a constant care system for people. People with disabilities are not really understood in Indonesia and so this social inclusuion and educational project is very much needed. After setting up a partnership with Sari Hati, Stars of Hope put on the summer ball 2008 in aid of Sari Hati and raised £5000 in one night. The money has allowed us to rent land for 10 years and renovate the building that is already there. Renovations are almost complete and the building has been redesigned to cater for a range of disabilities. Stars of Hope is now supporting Sari Hati with monthly funds for running costs that include: wages and training for local people to care for people with disabilities; healthy food; educational materials; days out; weekly physiotherapy visits; medical treatment. The individuals that go to Sari Hati get so much pleasure from being there and love to sing, dance, play the drums and create beautiful pieces of art.
