Welcome to Stars of Hope
Stars of Hope is a non profit making organisation that is a UK limited company (05851768), registered with the Kenyan Social Services as a recognised organisation, and is currently pending UK charity registration.
In five years we have grown to establish two of our own centres. One in Kenya and one in Bali. The centre in Kenya is situated in Ruai, which is 45 minutes from where we began in Dandora: a slum on the outskirts of Nairobi city. Dandora is still home to the day-care centre where Stars of Hope was first established in 2003. We still provide funds to help the day-care centre but with more funds we would like to run it so as to provide care to more children and provide more jobs in the area. Ruai is situated far away from the dangers that Dandora hosts. Ruai cares for the most vulnerable of children; homeless, orphaned, sick and abused children. In Ruai these children find they have a safe home to live in. We receive children who have been left our gates, who have been referred by nairobi social services or from the day-care centre in Dandora. At present we home 30 children and educate and feed a further 40 children daily. In Ruai each of the Stars children are fed, educated, treated for health problems and ultimatley allowed to be children, feeling loved and cared for and having fun! The centre also provides paid work for the locals in the area and for people looking to escape life in Dandora. Click on Kenya for more information.
The centre in Bali is a day-care centre for disabled people. It is called 'Sari Hati'. The centre provides care, support, education and nutritious daily meals. There are trained volunteers who run the centre and the aim is for them to pass their skills to local people, providing paid work in the area and the beginnings of educating the community about socially including disabled people. Sari Hati has been based in a small space in someone else's house, but Stars of Hope raised the money to rent land and renovate a building to be used only by Sari Hati. It is based in Ubud. Click on Sari Hati for more information and see how the progress is being made!
It is all very exciting so if you would like to know more you can contact us or have a further look at the website! Enjoy and thank you for your interest!
